The Idea & the Request
The owners of the apartment in Voula wanted to transform the central wall of the living room into something that stands out—without being over-the-top, without bold colors, but with character and a sense of luxury. They opted for a trowel-finished texture with metallic highlights in a warm shade of gray.
Surface Preparation
Before any application, the wall was inspected for imperfections, cracks, and irregularities. This was followed by filling, sanding, and priming with a special primer suitable for decorative applications. Proper preparation is essential to bring out the best in the final trowel-textured finish.
Application of the Spatula-Finish
A special decorative material with a velvety texture and fine metallic particles was used, which creates shimmer depending on the angle of the light. The material was applied in two coats using a special stainless steel trowel—each stroke leaves a unique imprint on the surface, making every wall one-of-a-kind and irreproducible.
Result
The living room wall became the focal point of the space—a deep, warm gray with subtle metallic highlights that shift in appearance depending on the lighting. During the day with natural light, at night with artificial light—it creates a different atmosphere each time. Exactly what the owners were looking for.
